Old versions of TextPad
Recently tried downloading and reinstalling the earliest version of TextPad available through the website (3.25?). This was probably close to the version that I first started using and first registered. I was surprised how little changed it was. Does TextPad have a history that goes all the way back...

Tried Jedit on WinNT and wasn't very impressed with the overall useability. My guess is that Text Wrangler is going to be my best option. I will miss the MDI though. I've tried Pepper on Linux and there's a lot of good things there but it's just too quirky for my liking. I kinda like the BeOS herita...

Text Editor for Mac OS comparable to TextPad?
This is all a little off-topic but here goes... I have the opportunity to do some work with Mac OS X and want to know is anyone can recommend a text editor with capabilities similar to TextPad (see, not that off-topic). I am not really looking for a complete software development system, just a capab...

Just to add my <AOL> me too </AOL> to this debate. I also initially thought that current-line highlighting was a really good addition to TextPad. In the end though I've turned it off because it just seemed to get in the way on most files. I reckon that being able to setup a pale coloured b...

Check out the font settings under whatever document class is appropriate. From the menu bar select configure / preferences then Document Classes and check out what font is set for pronting use. YOu might need to look at the default document class or at a specific one if it applies to the type of doc...

On Win2K/XP, a user needs to be a member of the Administrators or Power Users groups to be able to install software. This is an operating system, rather than a TextPad restriction. To obtain those privileges temporarily, right click the TextPad setup program (eg. txpeng470.exe) and choose the "...

I agree, a command results list of hyperlinked hits would be cool. I'd vote for this if you raised a poll in the [Enhancements] forum. Is this not what you get with Find in Files? Double-click on a result in the Search Results window and it takes you straight to the block of code and the correct li...

.. there is an option on the [Find] dialogue, to look In all documents , which refers to all those currently open. Hope this helps? Not really - I did try that but what it doesn't do is show you just where the string is that you are looking for in all the files. As far as I know, you need to search...

Selecting file in 'Find in files'
Is there a limit to the number of files that can be included in a Find in files dialog? I've just tried to select 39 files in a group of software files and the In files list stays exactly the same each time. Any hints :?: How about a future version incorporating a checkbox to select all files in wor...

URL please just to find out more. I had a quick google around but couldn't see anythingBerend Hasselman wrote:Or Ruby for that matter. I think that if you like TextPad (and you likely do so) for the clean interface, easy-of-use and what-not, then you'll probably like Ruby, too.

applying syntax coloring to files without extentions
While you can apply syntax colouring to files without extensions it will apply to all files of that type.
The practicalities are that you need to add the filter '*.' to the document classes (remembering to remove this from the text document class).
