I can't reproduce this. If it occurs again with the themed open file dialog box, try using the Windows standard one:

Configure › Preferences › File › Use the standard file open dialog box.

If that works, please let me know the directory stucture your files are in. Do they contain many files?

TextPad doesn't run natively on macOS.

The border color is fixed for each theme, at present. What color would you prefer?

Apologies for missing your post until now. To persist those settings, use the Page Setup command on the File menu.

TextPad uses Microsoft's installer (MSI) which doesn't support that. Its options are described here:

Click on the down arrow at the right of "Recently used files" and select the one you want from the drop-down list.

Go to Configure › Preferences › File and make sure "Number of recent files of File menu" is not 0. This will be fixed in the next release.

Have a look at the Manage History Lists command on the Configure menu.

Having mulled it over, the safest solution is to leave well alone. A new command, "Save Configuration", will be added to the Configure menu. It will save modifications to toolbars and menus, as well as other configuration changes. That will enable new instances of TextPad to inherit those ...

The Save All command currently only saves all documents and the workspace. If it was modified to also save state, do you think it would break anything?

In the next release, TextPad will detect if those dialog boxes are on a non-existent monitor and move them to the primary one.
