I think your problem is that you have "Working folder follows active document" in "Preferences-> General"; so when you open a document it then sets it as the current location.

Anyone got an answer to this?

I have just installed TP onto a new Windows 7 64 bit machine and it is opening up a new instance of TP for every file I open via explorer - regardless of the "allow multiple instances" configuration setting.

Without a sample of a file it is very hard to say what sort of file format you have. It may be a file format that uses multiple ways of breaking "records" into elements and attributes, the possibilities are huge. If you have a special file extension to the file then you could "google&...

Lochrane, Kengrubb is right in that you can use "\x00" in the find dialogue to locate a Null, and it is probably the font you are using that cannot display the Null or any of the "unprintable" characters. You say, how are you going to locate exactly what character to find and the...

Just some speculation. Maybe Textpad 6 is a Major upgrade, but behind the scenes, like a re-write to allow greater flexibility for updating and maintaining the product. I see that it is states it is a "32 bit" version in the "about" so it may be that this is a beginning. I think ...

One possibility would be to create a syntax file for a new document class - may not fit your needs, but if you have constant text in a document that you what to highlight then this may be a method.

Have a read up in the help.

do a "find" and "mark all".

then do "edit", "delete", "bookmarked lines".

you could disable "undo" to make it faster.
