Amigo, consider that the key mapping is not fix, Textpad can for example be configured to use Microsoft compatible key mappings, then it is F3/Shift F3 for "Find Next"/"Find Previous". And key mappings can be adapted to the user's wishes. Thus irinetti could re-map the "Find...

fwiw, when I tried to export this key, win 10 is apparently tries very hard to protect me from myself. It (eventually) "wrote" this file, but it never appeared in the destination directory. Make sure Windows does not hide files - per default some files are hidden in Explorer. See https://...

Why would nowadays someone need entities anyway?
If you have characters, that are invisible (zero width joiner, zero width non-joiner, soft hyphen, non-breaking-space, left-to-right-switch, right-to-left-switch and so on), it is sometimes easier to edit with the entities, as these are visible.

(Left-)click the item to select it.
Right-Click the item to open context menu, then choose Close Document(s)

(if the item is not selected, a Right-Click on it will deselect all other selected items, select the clicked item, and open the context menu)

codepage 1252 has defined characters for all 256 code points from 0 to 255.

You seem to have characters outside this range, i.e. characters with codepoint beyound 255.

Your search only looks for characters in range 0-31 ...

View -> Document Properties (or ALT-Return), then Tabulation

Change to whatever you want and choose Apply or OK.

This will not change the settings for the document class.

Sounds like you have two versions of textpad installed.

When you start textpad you use one version, while the Explorer shortcut points to another ...

Check the Help -> About dialog in both situations ...

let me have a guess - you are not using a bom, and the copyright char is the only non-ascii character in the file.

It might help to put a comment like /*äöüß*/ into the file (close to the beginning).

Also check whether another document class fits the file name - in my textpad, the text document class matches for "*.".
IIRC the classes are checked from bottom to top - first hit wins ...
(and I don't see any chance to change the order ...)
