I'm still using 4.7.3, but try this:

- Press F11 to close the Document Selector
- Press F11 to reopen the Document Selector

Does that reorder the files in the Document Selector?

Though I believe that a macro editor could give TextPad an edge over competing editors, I believe also that, well, we really don't need one. Here's what I do: - Open a new text file in a second instance of TextPad - Notate all of a macro's keystrokes in that text file - Record the macro using the fi...

Excellent set analysis, Ben. I was toying with something similar, but gave up when I realized that it didn't cover ALL lines containing "something"; however, I like yours better: - "Mark All" of what you DON'T want (B) - Search -> Invert All Bookmarks (not B) - "Find Next&qu...

OK, last try:

- Replace all instances of "something" by "replacement"
- Replace all instances of "if replacement" by "if something"

I think you're done.

Just to spin your wheels, think about this: - Make two copies of the file you need to search - In a separate instance of TextPad, open both copies - On Copy 1, Find Next "if something", just to load "if something" into the "Find what" text box of the "Find" di...

Depending upon what \(if \) is, you might be able to construct an expression that does in fact exclude. For example, consider this expression: .*[^i][^f] something The above will find all instances of "something," except for those that are preceded exactly by the three characters "if ...

Precisely, Bob. And considering that Ctrl+A--as well as a host of other available and convenient custom key mappings--can be quickly accessed, even in Full Screen mode, it's no wonder that Helios didn't bother to clutter the context menu with Select All. On the contrary, TextPad's context menu has a...

Keyboard Shortcuts for Open-Document Navigation

The following was concluded using TextPad 4.X.X. Here is a discussion of keyboard shortcuts for open-document navigation in TextPad: - Ctrl+F6 is the equivalent of the "Next Document" tool button, which cycles through all open documents without modifying the order of those documents. "...

We TextPad users are here to help and to share what we've discovered, because we know that the more others enjoy the program, the more support TextPad will receive, and of course the happier we will be to know that our favorite program will remain strong and well-supported. Ironically, through my in...

Are you sure about that? In 4.7.3, the behavior for Edit -> Join Lines appears to be the same as your description of it for 5.X.X. When word wrap is on, the Edit -> Join Lines command automatically converts to Edit -> Split Wrapped Lines, right? How about the Edit -> Reformat command? Does it work i...

By the way, just to make sure that the palette is complete, so to speak, are you aware of the default ability to position the cursor on an active document's URL and right-click to select the open command? Alternatively, position the cursor on a URL and Ctrl+Shift+G. Help -> Help Topics -> Index -> U...

Don't ya just love this program?

When I hear some users say things like, "TextPad is an aging program," I honestly don't know what they mean. Maybe they just haven't discovered for themselves what TextPad can do.

Thanks for sharing this in the forum.

Well . . . It's a fact of life that the first line of a text file will be called line 1. So . . . You could copy all text from "DEF production( )" to the end and paste it into a new document, so that at least you would have the line numbers where ya want 'em from that point on. . . . Any g...
