My guess is that the other computer will work just fine. Hard to tell why this happen, but i guess there is something in the registry that is wrong. Bingo - an uninstall, regclean, and re-install fixed the issue. Now if I could get TextPad to work in a batch file across network drives... but that's...

This is almost identical to your question in another thread started by you. Every example given by you so far works fine for me both under XP and Vista. There is no need to start a new thread for each command line parameter that doesn't work for you. At the time of the second post, no one had repli...

TextPad command line parameters

It seems that, despite what the Help file says, TextPad 5.0.3 ignores most, if not all, of its Command Line Parameters under XP including -m, -am, etc. I'd like to call TextPad from a batch file and have it open multiple files for editing. I've long been able to do so in Win98, but not in XP. Accord...

This commandline issue gets weirder. In Win98, this batch file opens the file in TextPad for editing: start /w "C:\Progra~1\TextPa~1\TextPad.exe" C:\text\textfile.html When this batch file is run under XP, however, TextPad never opens -- instead, the HTML file is diplayed in my browser. Mo...

Cursor position issue: opening TextPad in DOS batch

I've long used DOS batch files to command TextPad to open a file at a specific cursor position, e.g. start /w C:\Progra~1\TextPa~1\TextPad C:\text\text0801.txt(11,1) This works in Windows98. However, in XP, the same command produces this error: Windows cannot find 'C:\text\text0801.txt(11,1)'. Make ...

Would you care to drop a hint what semi-comparable program you have in mind? (That's a not-subtle hint, TextPad programmers!)

Here's another one: after upgrading from 4.7.3 to 5.0.3 I now get the TEXT.SYN error when opening a particular .SHTML file (I added that extension to both the Associated Files and File Name Filters settings a few versions back). Once I clear the error the file opens. The error is replicable, but onl...

I came across this forum post which explains how one user installed Textpad to a USB drive. However, his method involves editing the Windows registry, which is not something a lot of users would want to try.

I cast my vote for a portable Textpad.

Re: Is a U3 compatible version of Textpad in the works?

It would be fantastic. I'm sure I'm not the only one who didn't know what "U3" was until recently (the successor to the rock band U2)? U3 is one of the growing trend of 'portable' (in the sense of 'lite') versions of software meant to be installed and used on thumb drives. See http://www....
