Just to let you know where the competition is at, JEdit can now do syntax highlighting for D, including wysiwyg strings (but not yet nested comments). See this post in the D forum by JEdit's author.

What silly bugger voted this as "unimportant"?

Year 2000 compliant?

In the specifications for TextPad, I note that TextPad is still claiming to be "Year 2000 compliant."

Isn't it time to drop this now? I mean, who cares? It's 2004. And the whole "year 2000 bug" thing was just a scam anyway.

Somewhere (?) there is a suggestion to allow the passing of selected text to an arbitrary tool - a suggestion which I support and which would certainly solve your problem.

Lionel - I don't understand what you mean about project management. Could you please elaborate? For me, the workspace works a treat already. Tree structures are already inherent in the existing filesystem. A lot of people (me included) support the enhancement request of displaying the workspace as a...

Currently, if you right-click on a folder, you can do "Send To" followed by "TextPad". TextPad then KNOWS the name of the directory in which you are interested. Unfortunately, it does the wrong thing with it - it tries to treat it as a file and fails badly. I imagine it would be ...

Now, I can't let that go by without comment. As an ex-Amiga programmer *MYSELF*, I am more than qualified to comment on Rexx, or at least, the Amiga variant, ARexx, and I have to say I thoroughly disagree with you, Alex2. You claim that C++ is not readable? Huh? I can only suppose that "readabl...

Editable macros *ARE* a good idea, however in all other respects I agree with you (as I did last time you mentioned this.)

This IS an excellent idea.

Agreed. Now how about this for a feature proposal... For an XML file, why not get the list of keywords from the relevant DTD, which in turn may be obtained by parsing the start of the XML file. So basically, it would go like this: 1. Parse the start of the XML file to discover the DTD(s) that define...

I believe that BenjiSmith meant that you can use ANY scripting language for this purpose, and that he/she was merely expressing a personal preference for Perl. Other languages equally up to the task are PHP, Python, and probably many, many more. PHP is my favorite as it has a most C-like syntax. (I ...

It isn't TextPad's job to make up for the deficiencies in Microsoft's software. If the version control system you are currently using doesn't do the job properly, then why not use a different one? If you have no choice (for example because it's a company decision) then it's a BAD company decision, a...
